To apply, please fill out the Scholarship application with a Sponsor from the program where you have taken the Practice Test and where your Sponsor feels that you are ready to take the GED test. Fill out the Permission to Release Test Results so that the program where you take the GED test can let us know how you did. Write a brief paragraph (150-200 words) describing your financial need for this scholarship.
Mail all of these documents to:

Allow at least two weeks to hear back from us. Both the student and the test site will receive a letter. If you are approved, the check will be sent to the test site.

The Literacy Council of West Alabama strives to improve lives and communities in Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Pickens, Perry, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa Counties. One way we do that is by supporting students who are ready to take the GED test with the Janet Foster Griffith GED Scholarship, named for one of our first Board Members who has twice served as our President and who has worked tirelessly to support Adult Education.
